Prosthetics Instruction Manual

Thank you for your purchase! Every makeup artist has different techniques that they prefer to use when applying or painting prosthetics. This manual has been created to serve as a guide based on techniques that we have found to be effective, and will ensure that you apply your prosthetic to the best standard possible.

Materials Needed

You will need the following materials to apply your prosthetic:

Adhesive

Silicone Adhesive - We would advise using an established brand of silicone adhesive for peace of mind. This could either be Telesis, Sil-Key or Snappy G. Other brands will work also but these are the 3 we have used regularly.

Silicone Adhesive Thinner - This is usually the same brand as the adhesive you are using.

Solvents

Acetone - This is used to blend the edges of the prosthetic to your skin, so a high quality acetone is crucial.

Isopropyl Alcohol - This is used for painting the prosthetic. We suggest a high quality alcohol so that it activates the paints correctly.

Other Materials

Prosaide Cream - This can either be purchased or created mixing cabosil with prosaide.

Matting Agent / Sealer - There are many of these available on the market. We prefer using Ben Nye Final Seal for sealing the edges of the piece and AlliedFX Matt Sealer for knocking back any shine on the prosthetic.

Translucent Powder - This is used to take away any tack on the prosthetic.

Barrier Cream - Important for protecting your actor's skin underneath the appliance.

Adhesive Remover - We advise using Proclean or Neill's Materials Remover.

Paints

Alcohol Activated Paints - These provide an effective means of applying light washes of colour over a prosthetic. We recommend AlliedFX or Skin Illustrator.

Other paints / makeup can be used provided they are not grease based.
